~ RCRnet ~ Setup Instructions ~

After installing Internet Explorer from the CD, Your machine will reboot.

When it comes back up, open Internet Explorer (Big Blue “E” on your desktop) Wait just a second and you should see the picture below before it attempts to dial RCRnet.

These are the screens similar to what you will see. (It varies slightly with each version of windows)

Example

After entering your user name and password, click on “connect”. Note: I usually leave connect automatically unchecked to keep the machine from dialing when I don’t want it to.

You should now be dialing to connect to RCRnet.

If you have trouble at this point, here’s a couple of things to check.

Phone line going to back of computer.

(make sure is in the “line” jack on the modem and not the “phone” jack.

Make sure username and password are typed in EXACTLY as in your setup sheet.

Names and passwords are always lower case.

After connecting and you are able to browse the net, assuming everything has gone as planned, we will finish the email setup. On your desktop (or on your bottom tray – Looks like an envelope) should be an icon for Outlook Express.  Dbl-click it.  Here are some example screens. Enter your own personalized information off your setup sheet and then click “next” to continue.

Ok, just about done. Now, in Outlook Express we have to set up your authentication

to access the RCRnet mail server.

Open Outlook Express.

Go to tools/accounts/mail and dbl-click on the rcrnet account.

Click on Servers, then at the bottom, click on “my Server requires authentication”. Then click on apply, then OK.

That’s it, your done!

If you run into problems. Please give us a ring at 918-358-1111

Thank You and Enjoy!!

Tip:

After double-checking all your name and password information closely, I’ve at times had luck troubleshooting by deleting my existing dialup connection and running the “branding only” file on the CD.  You must manually delete the existing RCRnet dialup connection and the Outlook Express account to do this.
